FY 2017-18 CAO Preliminary Recommended Budget Available

The FY 2017-18 Preliminary Recommended Budget will be presented to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. This document is not the final budget and is produced for the purpose of complying with the County Budget Act that requires Counties to present a recommended budget for approval prior to June 30. Budget hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. with a special evening meeting to receive public comments on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

Cooling Centers

Senior citizens and others at risk from extreme heat can find relief at cooling centers across Kern County. Cooling center information will be updated daily. County Cooling Centers are closed until next summer.

Financial Transparency

User-friendly access to Kern County’s financial data, including the current budget and five years of revenues and expenditures.

Senate Bill 272

Requires local agencies to create and post a catalog of multidepartmental systems or systems containing information about the public that store original records.

Compliance and Accountability

Implements and enforces policies and procedures that ensure county operations are in compliance with government laws and regulations, county ordinance codes, and departmental procedures. Includes a reporting procedure for allegations of fraud, waste and abuse.
