Established as a three-member Mojave Public Cemetery
District by Board of Supervisors Resolution of March 11, 1940, increased
to five-member Board by Resolution 71-817 on October 12, 1971, and name
changed to East Kern Cemetery District by Resolution 77-89 on February
17, 1977 pursuant to Section 8950 of the Health & Safety Code. |
| Membership Qualifications: |
Five-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Board of Supervisors from
electors residing within the East Kern Cemetery District. |
| Term: |
Four-year staggered term or until succeeded. |
| Duties: |
To govern and manage the affairs of the District,
guided by laws and regulations as set forth by the Health & Safety
Code and by regulations that are promulgated by the Board of Supervisors. |
| Meeting Place and Time: |
2040 Belshaw
Mojave, CA
Second Monday of each month at 7:00 P.M. |
| Compensation: |
Members shall serve without compensation, but necessary
expenses of each trustee for actual traveling in connection with meetings
or business of the board of trustees shall be allowed and paid. |
| Ethics Training: |
Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course
in ethics training approved by the Fair political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each
member is required to complete this training every two years. |
