Established on December 19, 1955 by
Board of Supervisors Resolution pursuant to Article 2 of Chapter 3 of Division
5 of the Public Resources Code. Reorganized by Board of Supervisors Resolution
of January 26, 1960 pursuant to Sections 5780 et seq. of the Public Resources
Code. Effective September 18, 1991, the term of office was changed to the
Pleasure of the Board or serve a four year term. Effective January 1, 2004, Public Resources Code
5784.1 reduced the seven member board to five. District Resolution 12-05 renamed District to North of the River Recreation and Park District. |
| Membership Qualifications: |
Five members of the Board of Directors; three members are appointed
by the Board of Supervisors and two members are appointed by the City of Bakersfield
from electors residing within the North of the River Recreation and Park District. |
| Term: |
The five members shall serve at the pleasure of,
and may be removed at any time without cause by the Board
of Supervisors or City Council which made the appointment.
Absent removal each of the five members
shall serve a four year term. |
| Duties: |
To organize, promote, conduct and advertise programs
of community recreation; establish systems of recreation and recreation
centers, including parks and parkways and to acquire, construct, improve,
maintain and operate recreation centers within or without the territorial
limits of the public authority. |
