Members
Legal Authority: Established by Board of Supervisors Ordinance A-52 on March 7, 1949; amended by Ordinance G-196 on July 13, 1954; rescinded by Ordinance G-389 on September 1, 1959; and reestablished by Ordinance G-962 on May 31, 1967; Ordinance G-3997, March 12, 1985, revised membership to "a Supervisor".
Membership Qualifications: Seven voting members and eight advisory members; Each Supervisor shall nominate one voting member plus two additional voting members. Advisory members shall include a representative (and such additional persons as may from time to time be deemed necessary by the Board) from the following:
a) State Department of Fish & Game
b) U.S. Bureau of Land Management
c) U.S. Forest Service
d) U.S. Corps of Engineers
e) Cattlemen's Association
f) Kern County Farm Bureau
g) Kern County Park & Recreation Department
h) Kern County Administrative Officer
i) a Supervisor
Term: Supervisors' appointees terms shall be coterminous with supervisor's term. The two additional voting members' terms shall be for four years. Advisory members' terms shall correspond to their respective official tenure.
Duties: The Commission shall study problems concerning the conservation and propagation of game birds, water fowl, fish life and other forms of wildlife and make appropriate reports and recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
Meeting Place and Time: Public Services Building, 2700 "M" Street when called, usually on second Wednesday of each January, April, July and October at 6:00 P.M. For meeting information, contact Parks Department at (661) 868-7000.
Compensation: Expenses.
Ethics Training: Pursuant to State law, on or after January 1, 2006, any person newly appointed shall successfully complete a course in ethics training approved by the Fair political Practices Commission and Attorney General. Each member is required to complete this training every two years.
