It is the responsibility of the registrant to read and be familiar with
the requirements for filing an FBN statement. A complete version of the
Business and Professions Code section is available for reference at the
The County Clerk staff is not permitted to advise customers on legal
matters concerning the filing of an FBN statement. Customer assistance
will be limited to general questions concerning completion of the form.
Be certain the information in the statement is correct and complete before filing it.
You cannot make changes to the statment once it has been filed. Any changes would require
the filing of a new statment, payment of the filing fees again, and publication in an adjudicated
newspaper in Kern County.
Our office does not accept strikeovers, whiteouts or alterations made on a
Fictitious Business Name Statement Form, Abandonment Form or Withdrawal Form. Forms sent
to our office with such alterations will not be processed and will be sent back for
completion of a new form.
If you will be coming into our office to process your FBN, computers are available in our
lobby and you must enter your information into our system the day of processing.
Do not complete the online FBN Statement form. If you will be filing as a Corporation,
Limited Liability Company, Limited Liability Partnership or Limited Partnership, you must
bring an endorsed copy of your Articles to attach to our file copy.
If filing by mail, access the FBN form through the link provided below; and print the form.
Complete the form by either typing or printing legibly the necessary information
in the appropriate boxes. This form is only for mail in requests or if someone will be dropping it off for you.
Do not complete this form if you will be coming into our office to process your FBN Statement.
Sign the original form and make three (3) copies.
Mail the original form plus all copies, "Article of Incorporation and Amendments"
if applicable, a self addressed stamped envelope, and fee(s) to the:

You may file more than one Doing Business As (DBA) on the same form
if all other facts regarding the businesses are identical, i.e. same
locations and owners. If listing more than two businesses or registrants,
please complete additional information using FICTITIOUS
BUSINESS NAME ADDENDUM for three (3) or more businesses or registrants.
All information contained in the statment is public record, including your residence address and phone number. Anyone can purchase copies of the statement.
