Fleet Services
Fleet Services is the operational unit responsible for the repair and maintenance of more than 800 county vehicles. A team of experienced A.S.E. Certified Master Technicians, CNG Specialists and California Smog Technicians work hard to keep the county moving.

Directly responsible for the purchase, maintenance and repairs of more than half the county fleet, the Fleet crew keeps an accurate account of vehicle age, mileage and wear. In addition to these Plan 1 vehicles, Fleet Services schedules maintenance and repairs for vehicles assigned and owned by departments and special districts throughout the county.

Typical maintenance and repairs include oil changes, brake and transmission service, tire repair, emissions diagnostic and repair, engine repair and overhaul and special body fabrication. Auto Shop services include Smog Checks, an auto parts storeroom, and computerized record-keeping for parts, vehicle maintenance and repair.

Fleet Services outsources some functions such as vehicle washing, fuel fill-ups and car/truck rental. This enables the Fleet division to maintain high productivity without unnecessary delays in service.

In addition to maintenance and repair functions, Fleet Services manages the county fuel system. They also furnish an estimate of repairs before work is done and will provide departments with a comprehensive vendor list in order to provide punctual repair service in outlying areas.

Above all, the Fleet team endeavors to be customer-oriented. We recognize the need for safe, reliable transportation. Our goal is to meet the technical and mechanical needs of the County by consistently providing timely and cost-effective services to the employees of one of the largest, geographical counties in California.

In January of 2008, Fleet assumed the responsibility of maintaining the medium and heavy-duty vehicles for both the County Parks Department and the Waste Management Department.
