The Information Technology Services (ITS) division of the County Administrative Office provides a variety of professional information technology (IT) and telecommunications services to all County departments. The division's mission is to provide cost-effective, efficient and coordinated data processing and telecommunications services for all County departments, with a major emphasis on those departments that have direct interaction with the public.

| The primary IT services provided include: |

- Providing 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week computer operations and systems support
- Administering and supporting the following systems:
- The County's telephone system
- The County's mainframe
- The County's Wide Area Network (WAN)
- Local area networks (LAN) for several County departments
- The County's e-mail system
- The County's public Web site (www.co.kern.ca.us) and Intranet site
- Providing departments with access to Internet services
- Developing and maintaining large computerized business systems
- Coordinating large multi-departmental automation projects
- Developing browser-based (Web) applications for the County Web site and Intranet
- Developing and maintaining Web page content for the County Web site and Intranet
- Creating and maintaining technology contracts
