04/18/16   Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Funding Requests to be discussed at April Meeting (PDF)
The Kern County Parks and Recreation Commission has received 3 requests for funding for the 2015 - 2106 Fiscal Year.  The requests will be discussed at the Commission meeting on April 27, 2016 at 6:30 P.M.

04/07/16   An unscheduled vacancy has occurred on the Wildlife Resources Commission
The Commission recommends to the Board of Supervisors funding for projects that support the propagation, conservation, and education of wildlife. The funding for these projects comes from fines of wildlife and fishing violations.

Any person interested in being considered to fill the vacancy should immediately file in writing a statement identifying the particular board, commission or committee on which he or she would like to serve, along with his or her name, address, telephone number, resume of work and education experience, and a brief statement of other qualifications.

12/11/15   Lamont Park Improvement Project
The Kern County Parks and Recreation Department will be starting an improvement project to install exercise equipment and a walking path at Lamont Park that will temporarily impact park users. The project is anticipated to start in late December 2015 and will end sometime in April 2016. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience during this project time frame.
11/03/15   2016 'All Lakes' and 'Lake Isabella Only' boat permits are now available for sale online.

We are pleased to announce that 2016 Kern County Annual "All Lakes", and "Lake Isabella Only" boat permits are now available for sale online. For additional information, please contact the Kern County Parks and Recreation Department at (661) 868-7000 during regular business hours, Monday - Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. To place your boat permit order by phone, call the above number.

08/26/15   Parks Administration Office closed for lunch
Beginning September 7th, the Parks Administration Office at 2820 M Street in Bakersfield will be closed for lunch Monday - Friday between the hours of 1pm to 2pm.
03/09/15   Parks Jobs: Park Ranger (multiple positions open)
08/19/14   Buena Vista Front Gate Hours Changing Effective August 23rd
On Monday through Wednesday evenings, the front gate will now be closing at 8:00 PM instead of 10:00 PM. When staff closes the gate for the day, a sign will be placed at the kiosk to direct customers to pay their fees the next morning before 9:00 AM.
