Mission Statement: The goal of the Kern County Veterans Service Department remains the same today as when it was first established in 1944: to assist veterans, their dependents, and survivors to obtain the benefits they have earned as a result of their honorable military service.

Veterans Should be Wary of Organizations Offering Services to Veterans

Kern veterans and your families: Let us serve you!

If you served honorably in the military, thank you for your service and sacrifice for this country. Thank you also to the spouses and dependents who served along with you. Regardless of your era, your branch, your post or your assignment, you are likely entitled to state and federal veterans' benefits, and your dependents may also qualify for benefits. To learn about your veteran's benefits, click here, go to Veterans Benefits or contact us at 661-868-7300 or 1-866-218-5367.

Camp Lejeune Water Supply Alert  (PDF)

From the 1950's through the 1980's, people living or working at the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, were potentially exposed to drinking water contaminated with industrial solvents, benzene, and other chemicals. Veterans and family members who served on active duty or resided at Camp Lejeune during that time period may be eligible for medical care through VA for certain health conditions.
