Kern veterans and your families: Let us serve you! If you served honorably in the military, thank you for your service and sacrifice for this country. Thank you also to the spouses and dependents who served along with you. Regardless of your era, your branch, your post or your assignment, you are likely entitled to state and federal veteran's benefits, and your dependents may also qualify for benefits.
Mission Statement: The goal of the Kern County Veterans Service Department remains the same today as when it was first established in 1944: to assist veterans, their dependents, and survivors to obtain the benefits they have earned as a result of their honorable military service.



Kern County Pets for Vets

Kern County, in partnership with Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation, is proud to announce Kern County Pets for Vets, a program offering free pet adoptions to all Veterans and their families.  Join us in raising money for this worthy cause.

Presented by the County of Kern, Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation and Kern County Animal Services.

Active Duty Military, Veterans, Reservists, Immediate Family Members can adopt a pet at not cost from any Kern County Animal Services' Shelter.  Please click on the link to learn more about this program.

Honor Flight Breakfast

Serving begins at 9:00am.  Come early, visit and enjoy some coffee or juice.  Open to all Honor Flight Veterans, Guardians and a guest.
Hot, delicious meals are $5/person.  American Legion Post 26 - 2020 H Street

Bakersfield National Cemetary-Volunteers needed for wreath pickup

We will be picking up the wreaths at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 12th at 11AM and can use any help that is available.  All are welcome and no RSVP needed.  Please bring gloves and feel free to share this with other that might be interested in helping out.

6th Annual Bakersfield Military Ball - 'Honoring Our Past and Present Women Warriors'

The Military Order of the Purple Heart Kern County Chapter 604 cordially invites you to the 6th Annual Bakersfield Military Ball 'Honoring Our Past and Present Women Warriors'.  The ball will be held on February 13, 2016 from 4:30 pm to 11:30 pm at the Double Tree by Hilton Bakersfield, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court, Bakersfield, CA 93308.
